AUDIO SYSTEMS INTEGRATION

When a space is being outfitted with an audio solution, it is best to have an Audio Systems Integrator  design the 'System'. This is because he (ideally) is not trying to sell you equipment, as would be the case if you were to approach a supplier directly. The Audio Systems Integrator aims to find the components that best suit your needs and budget, whereas a supplier is duty bound to sell you what he has in his inventory, regardless of what it best for you.

The 'System' comprises of various factors that work together as described below, and an Independent Audio Consultant or Systems Integrator puts it all together for you.

- Acoustical Response of the Space - There is no better way of maximizing the performance of an audio installation than optimizing the acoustical response of the venue. If the venue is acoustically appropriate, even a low-technology, inexpensive equipment list can do the job. If the acoustical conditions are not satisfactory, electronic compensations become mandatory and usually lead to an inferior sound.

- Specification of the Equipment - The type, size and distribution of loudspeakers, the appropriate amplification and control modules, microphones, playback sources, mixing consoles etc. have to be considered. Every venue and application has a different set of requirements, and many approaches can be taken to meet these requirements.

- System Setup and Tuning - the fanciest equipment is worth nothing, if it is not properly setup and tuned. System Tuning is part art and part science. The science is in the measurements and calculations - the knowledge of what to measure and how to measure it is critical, but measurements do not give the complete picture... The aspect of how the system actually sounds, and what effect it has on its intended audience, is vital.

When all these things come together in one unified design, the installation is bound to serve its duty very well.
